Lydhurst Estate Wellness Centre

Lydhurst Estate

Sussex, UK, 2018-Ongoing

Lydhurst lies within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The historic estate is situated to the west of Warninglid village and was originally formed around a Victorian manor house and its large walled garden.

The project vision is to breathe new life into the Lydhurst Estate to create a sustainable development that enhances the unique natural setting whilst creating new high quality amenities and employment opportunities for the local area.

The revitalised Lydhurst Estate will offer holiday accommodation, a wellness centre, restaurant, members’ club, gym, pools and a cookery school. To achieve this goal, planning consent was achieved in 2022 for a wide range of projects designed by Adam Richards Architects.

The proposals involve the adaptation and re-use of the existing buildings on the site. The intention is to retain the character of the rural setting, whilst enhancing the facilities with high quality sustainable design.

The existing holiday cottages on the site will be supplemented with new accommodation and a range of leisure and educational facilities will be added. The proposals have been carefully considered in the context of a new landscape masterplan that responds sensitively to the local vernacular whilst creating convivial external spaces for the visitors to enjoy.
